There are cases where the gov has been able to de-anonymize Tor users that led to their arrests. When the courts ordered the gov to disclose how they could identify folks on the Tor network, rather than disclose, the gov dropped the charges. For that reason I'm not sure why the btc community thinks Tor is some kind of privacy panacea.
