They have this system in Norway where they essentially assign you a buddy called a support contact to hang out with if you're socially isolated.

I applied for one of those, and as it turns out, the system's broken. They're supposed to grant some money to pay for expenses, but my support contact tells me they're not paying up. It's also a rather symbolic sum that's not really enough for much of anything.

Most people don't know how half-assed our welfare system really is.
