npub1fqj9zee98wnx8u6p24a49l0wu0mgxk92rxn2yyvmq66va8qjw9mqqha5tz (npub1fqj…a5tz) I see the use for run-and-gun field recording, but I also see a lot of chatter on fieldrecording.slack.com claiming 32-bit mode in Zoom recorders isn’t great in practice. I don’t do much field recording, so I haven’t paid close enough attention to the details, but I think folks are finding noisy artifacts at mix down. I’d feel safer recording the -18 dB signal on a separate track.
Also, when recording to a modern 24 bit interface, there’s no need for peaks to approach 0.
