I guess this is where I gently remind everybody that, on the whole, our industry doesn't actually teach software developers anything. Any useful skills they have, they pretty much learned on their own. Either because they had to in order to do their job, or because they are personally interested.
Sometimes companies provide learning and development funding. But rarely is any kind of skill building required, evaluated, or enforced.
