It's a little sad that the fiscal upside will be what we have to keep hammering to sell these kinds of programs to pretty much anyone, instead of the almost universally beautiful human upside of what happens when the state flies close to fulfilling it's simplest function: distribution of resources equitably and without a ton of gatekeeping.
