Haha yes I have a dozen bottles of fabric dye just waiting to get used. I haven't been sewing as much but I found this soft and heavy weight cotton that was ugly and I dyed it bright cardinal red. I plan to sew my son a hoodie from it!
I never thought to use the protective stuff until I developed terrible allergies. My allergist and dermatologist told me to switch to natural fibers when possible and use the bed and pillow protectors to help with my dust mite allergy. Plus weekly washing and all of that stuff.
