How lovely to have it readily available. I am not sure about a replacement for daikon - the flavours are so different and daikon is available by the crate load.
It's sweet crunchy flavour makes it ideal for Asian style salads and stirfries. I have seen recipes from China, so not only SE Asian. It goes well with any acidic ingredient like green mangoes, green papaya etc, and with sweet tropical fruits. Also with chilli and fresh asian herbs. It seems to me that it holds its own place in the Asian cuisines.
Adrianna Tan (npub1xdy…etvd) do you have any experience of jicama (yam bean) in SE Asian cuisines?
