Fraser Cain on Nostr: JWST has turned its sights on the relatively nearby starburst galaxy Messier 82 ...
JWST has turned its sights on the relatively nearby starburst galaxy Messier 82 (M82). This small galaxy is awash in rapid star formation, which generates enormous amounts of gas and dust. This is the ideal target for Webb, which can peer through the dust to see exactly where the star formation is happening and how the combined stellar winds are affecting the evolution of the galaxy.
