If multi-device sync is out of the question a normal kbdx database with an audited client software is definitely better.
If multi-device sync is needed I’d just buy a nextcloud-ready box and host it inside the house

If you need it accessible from internet you expose it but we’re basically near the lastpass route, so… :D
