Osyraa has a significant presence in this episode. However, much of the new information is Osyraa specific, and not necessarily Orion-based traits and behaviors.
🔸 Osyraa has enough influence in the Emerald Chain to indulge her anger towards Starfleet. The Emerald Chain conducts military exercises near Kaminar, a UFP member world and Saru's home planet. Osyraa promised retribution against Starfleet after being thwarted in "The Sanctuary." Saru, as captain of the USS Discovery, was instrumental in preventing Osyraa from attaining her goals in that episode.
🔸 In her ship, The Viridian, Osyraa stalked the USS Discovery to the Verubin Nebula using the dangerous method of transwarp tunnels to get there. She is willing to risk herself, and her crew, to complete her plan.
🔸 Osyraa knows of the USS Discovery's unusual propulsion system, the spore drive and Stamets' importance to working it, and she intends to take it. Information possibly gained by the Emerald Chain, or Osyraa herself, using a spy network within Starfleet.
🔸 Osyraa was able to track the USS Discovery to the Verubin Nebula, but did not know why the ship was there. Her knowledge about the USS Discovery's itinerary is current, but limited.
🔸 The Emerald Chain has the technology to cloak The Viridian. And, the technology to transport to the USS Discovery when the Starfleet ship's shield strength is low.
🔸 Osyraa takes over the USS Discovery very quickly, and without casualties. She knew where to direct her soldiers to efficiently commandeer the USS Discovery. As well as the basics of how an over 900 year old, one of a kind starship functions.
