There are three levels of thinking about Donald Trump's crazy ideas (like deporting all undocumented immigrants and raising tariffs)
"Oh my god! Doesn't he know what these policies will do to the United States?"
I refuse to believe that Donald Trump is that stupid.
In addition, I believe that he has enough people around him to tell him the effects of his policy.
"Donald Trump is playing twenty-seven dimensional chess! He's making outrageous claims so that others will react first! Hah hah!"
I believe that Donald Trump thinks he is making ridiculously bad policy, in order that countries, large businesses, and the Democrats give concessions to prevent the United States' collapse.
"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."
If people just say: "If you follow through, here is what will happen to the United States" and no more -- he either has to follow through and hurt the country, or he has to back off and look very weak.
I'm in the third camp.
