We went for a mid-afternoon walk, and saw this pretty feather lying on the pavement. (I took the photo and left the feather.) The Feather Atlas is unavailable right now, boo.

We also saw a new-to-us kind of hawk! I’m pretty sure from the size, shape, and breast and tail markings that it was a broad winged hawk.

I only have a terrible cell phone photo, but I took mental notes while we were looking at it.
