I truly wish that the new full text search on mastodon was either opt out (instead of opt in) or better, that there was a nag UI to make users make a choice on this. IMO having robust full search is critical to success of the platform and "turning it on without turning it on" doesn't get us there.
(to head off "but privacy..." that's why I think an intentional choice nag UI would be optimal)
