I absolutely believe that part of why authoritarians in the US hate Ukraine is because the Automaidan is repugnant to them. The people drove out an autocrat through mass action and civil unrest, and they despise that so much they would like to see the Ukrainian people Russified if that's what it takes to expunge the Automaidan from memory.
