One of the main reasons I read these old mags, is everyone was so enthusiastic about computers.
They did fuck-all, every brand was incompatible and half-assed in different ways, you had to work at it to do anything useful or fun.
No Torment Nexus®, no shitbird, no massive data breaches putting everyone at risk. There was business to it, but it was exploratory, not "make a billion dollars by screwing you."
