Alan Pearce, tree warden, said: [There should've been a] consultation ... it’s part of our heritage, grown-out hedges that go back 100s of years ... about 200 years to regrow. The stumps look perfectly sound & solid. [How can they] say they were diseased or dying. We should be planting trees, not felling them ...
