So - Ubuntu won't connect to the wifi (more strictly, sees the wifi but thinks it is too weak to connect to it even if I am sitting in the same room as the wifi). I got it working with six arcane terminal instructions and a USB-C ethernet adaptor. The speakers don't work either.
ChromeOS Flex boots, but doesn't see the Mac's keyboard or the trackpad. It gets a little way through installing if I plug in a USB keyboard, but then errors out and refuses to install.
