Kamala Harris more trusted on economy as Donald Trump loses major advantage

A recent poll conducted for the Financial Times and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business found that 42 percent of Americans trust Kamala Harris more to handle the economy, compared to 41 percent who believe Donald Trump could handle the country's economy better. Trump's advantage over Joe Biden in handling the economy has diminished, with only 35 percent of Americans having more faith in Biden in previous polls. The poll also revealed that economic factors are considered the most important issue by a majority of Americans. However, more Americans believe they would be better off financially as a result of Trump's economic policies (42 percent) than as a result of Harris' policies (33 percent). Despite positive employment figures and strong growth, a majority of Americans (58 percent) disapprove of the way Biden is handling the economy. The unhappiness with the U.S. economy and Biden's handling of it is partly attributed to the rise of inflation following the pandemic.
