I wish Mastodon had quote toots, but anyways I can't second this enough. I've not worked in Ruby lately to know how bad things are there (the linked post is from 2016), but I can tell you that dependency bloat is currently running rampant in the JavaScript and Rust ecosystems, and to a lesser degree the Elixir ecosystem.
