used to name them after ponies from MLP G4, but that got out of hand really quickly.
Having to lookup the mapping between hostname and what they were doing got really out of hand when I got a bunch of VMs.
Moving in with my partner, who (by coincidence) was using the same naming scheme further complicated things a lot ("do you mean twilight the DNS server or twilight the file server?").
So yeah, boring "paperless.domain.de" hostnames for me.
