you know you are in a good place when they sell you eggs loose in a plastic bag

went up the road to get some eggs, cheese and a snack... the main place up the hill was closed, well, almoso, but so i went on further up to the next and last place up the road, and i was served, old lady was out the back pottering around and came around to serve me, front door was open and all... i called out to get her attention and waited

the most striking thing was on the second straight (it's a zig-zag from my place to this place) it was so silent, i mean, deathly silent, beautifully, meditatively silent

and i realised something on my way back down the hill

in Madeira, the higher the altitude, the quieter the people, mostly

if there is a lot all bunched together, maybe it's a bit more noisy, but suburbia density up high is still quiet

i also realised that if i were to move to a more out of the way place, i would have to spend more time climbing hills but it would be quieter

so probably if i don't hear sooner, on monday i'm contacting the place i've looked at that i tried to find yesterday

i will not regret being up there on that hard to get at place, on the edge of a steep hill that has nothing below it
