I hadn't seen my father for a few years but he asked me to visit after his terminal cancer diagnosis so today was the day.
After the health discussion he told me he wanted to acknowledge two things: 1) that he and everyone else in the 70s didn't really think about how to bring up children, 2) that he brought me up in the church. Kind of a non-apology apology.
At no point did he ask about me, my partner, or my child. I guess that'll be the last time I see him alive.
