"We expect software to be free and open source, so we don't usually pay for it." I have nothing against things being paid for, I just don't have purchasing authority. I almost never have a budget, nor purchasing authority. So dev tools companies are thinking they're making & selling enterprise licenses that developers will buy, when actually it is a consumer market, consumer prices & dev tool money competes with food and home mortgage, not salaries (buy this tool & save on developer salary!
