I would just like to remind everyone that Balatro, a game which is on a good many best of 2024 lists and is currently in the Steam top sellers despite having released in February, runs on LÖVE (that's
https://www.love2d.org). Not Unreal, or Unity, or some fancy custom thing, or any other "big" "serious" game engine. Just a little pile of Lua code. That's it. That's all you need.
