When I was boy I was always interested in design and architecture. My father was an architect which I'm sure had some influence on me. I remember my Catholic mother unexpectedly giving me an amazing book on Islamic architecture which opened up a whole new world to me I had never seen. I am so sad to think so much of this beautiful ancient history and culture has been destroyed by the West in my lifetime.
