Why are altcoins on bitcoin a good thing?

It seems to me like they should have their own blockchain. I haven't heard a convincing reason for putting them on bitcoin's blockchain. I am talking about any bitcoin tx that transfers altcoin ownership: taro, drivechain, rgb, etc.
