#OTD in 2007, the third Tacoma Narrows Bridge opened, taking a load off the second bridge (itself built to replace the infamous Galloping Gertie). It’s the gray bridge on the left in this picture. The bridge carries SR-16 traffic into Tacoma, easing that burden from its 1950 neighbor.
