A picture from the winter to come: a bright yellow-orange fruit of carolina horsenettle (Solanum carolinense). This was taken in January, when the fruit has long been ripe and has begun to dry on the stem. Now, in September, these are green and stripey.
Despite its resemblance to its cousin the tomato, these aren't edible by humans. I think they're beautiful though, and take a lot of pictures of them.
