I still can't understand the puriteens who keep repeating the "consenting adults" mantra especially if they are LGBT or queer. Didn't they know that this same mantra is being used for hompohobes to harming them?

Because the most extremist right-wing antis are those who deny the sexual agency of young people, and they see the simple fact that a teen is gay or trans as a sign of having been groomed. They're also say that the LGBT youth does not exist.
