How much of Big Tech's privacy is just gaslighting?
"All AI compute is done locally and privately on your phone. Your messages are yours."
This screams to me "our AI is making SUMMARIES of all of your messages, and then uploading them to our servers."
How much of a gap is there by not having oversight into "deriviative privacy"?
I remember when Sam Altman's shitcoin based on fingerprinting your eyeballs came out they said "It's private! We only save a HASH of your biometric fingerprint!"
Well if a hash is a distinguishing identifier then WTF do I care about that difference? That's not private...
Same with the TSA when I opt out of biometric scans. Dumb TSA agent: "You know they delete the pictures immediately after? You don't have to worry."
I don't give a fuck about the pictures. I care about the goddamn identifying model that was created FROM the pictures.
WE NEED DERIVATIVE PRIVACY LAWS. I know when I'm being gaslit and this is a massive oversight.
