I am going through similar thought patterns right now.
I didn't want to leave Instagram because I had joined and helped to cultivate a large community of vintage sign enthusiasts. I am on Pixelfed now but have failed to find a similar group via hashtags and such.
But I do not regret deleting my Instagram account.
I don't *want* to leave Facebook because that's how I hear about news of folks tangential to my inner circle and how I hear about local events. Yet, I plan to delete my Facebook account on inauguration day and will most likely miss out on some news and events that matter to me.
But I will not regret deleting my Facebook account. The reality is that 99% of my Facebook connections won't even notice I'm gone.
You see, I don't hang out in Nazi bars. I don't tolerate racism, bigotry, and misogyny.
What value do I contribute to society if I tolerate and enable others to profit from fascism?
It really boils down to something that simple.
