It is just how things work, hard to explain. Uniformity of keyboard shortcuts (I.e. cmd+, is preferences in all the apps), integration of apps with each other etc.
For example it has my favorite mail-client (MailMate) and with a click I had a mail in my favorite todo-application (OmniFocus). Simple things that make a huge difference combined.
