I will never understand why anyone involved in writing the plot ever thought the whole "Alliance" idea made any sense. Armin was never a fan of killing, but he also never hesitated when he had to do so to protect his friends. And Mikasa's entire character revolved around just protecting Eren. Hange and Levi should be aware enough to realize Eren's success is the only thing that could mean their friends didn't die in vain. The only person who would make sense not being okay with it is Jean.
It's also silly that Eren wants to destroy the whole world and has no interest in sparing Mikasa's people or making an effort to save the Eldians outside of the island who have been persecuted. Hell, I don't really think he'd be for the "rumbling" idea at all, but for some reason the plot DEMANDED that total genocide be his only option. If they didn't want that ending they simply could have not made the world genuinely insane in their hatred for Eldians. It feels very rushed and contrived.
I really wish that we had gotten a good long set of arcs where a proper war was fought out, all the way up to the main crew being full grown adults. I think that was the original plan, too. In the beginning there's a whole theme about generations passing on the torch. Erwin explicitly talks about how one set of scouts innovates and passes the regiment down to the next generation.
The whole foreshadowing of Hange becoming a sort of secret-police figure goes nowhere. Armin's parallels to Erwin don't really go anywhere, as much as the story wants you to think it does. Historia is just sidelined for no reason whatsoever. Jean just forgives the cold-blooded murder of his best friend. Everyone just forgives the cold-blooded murder of Sasha. Pyxis suddenly becomes a decadent moron.
I fucking hate it.
