Plenty of other countries have (more limited) gun ownership and don't have our mass murder issues. Lots of us are very responsible gun owners. The sheer numbers plus the toxic US culture seem to be jointly responsible.
The US is that kid that shows they are entirely too immature for the responsibility. I don't really know what viable solution exists though, so I'm no help.
