My suspicion is that the Republicans may find some critical mass of "blue collar populists" and others who are on the lower end of America's socioeconomic hierarchy, who make common cause with those above them who share the "working class" cultural identity, and who are anti-labor (despite clearly benefiting from labor organizing, solidarity, and protections)
