Police have democratic oversight, otherwise they're vigilantes. I enjoy these conversations but they're kinda silly unless the world has some real say over what we do. Until then, it's one household deciding whether the benefits outweigh the costs of a home invasion down the street. Or who to support when neighbors (domestic violence or between households) have an ongoing conflict and are now getting violent. We're self interested. It's why you have a legal system. #uspol
