It’s early days. You’ve got a lot of developers and techies on board right now so it won’t necessarily appeal to the masses or non-Bitcoin users but it will mature. The ethos is that is someone provides a service then you can instantly (literally seconds) zap them with payment for that service. That’s why Lightning payments are pretty important in the adoption of nostr.
Notes are stored on the server. DM’s are encrypted end to end.
