also the math teacher seems to be even worse than I thought. he's not just callous to my daughter's needs as an immigrant, he's like that with all kids. apparently the students were sharing memes about teachers and all of the memes were about this guy in particular, from how asking questions to him is like talking to a wall, to "math teacher when he shouts at a student for raising the hand" which apparently is a recurring thing. while he'll threaten the grades of my neurodiv kid for not speaking in public, he's also yelled at a student and called them a "narcissist" for participating in class _too_ much.

(this one stings because I would've been that kid.)

we were talking about alternative education models and she was talking about how infinitely better her democratic school was, but also that she feels that it was only possible because the facilitator knew her personally and deeply, because classrooms were small, and how would you scale that up when schools don't have enough teachers even for overly large classrooms...? I pointed out, well it appears to me that you've been learning more math from Youtube and Khan Academy than your teacher. She said, I'm *only* learning math from Youtube and Khan Academy.

so I said, then what's exactly the point of the math teacher again...? why would we want to scale, (gestures vaguely at the entire Gymnasium) *this*?
