I'm told a blood vessel in the outer ear ruptured, probably as a result of scratching, and the area filled with blood. The outer ear was drained and, while healing, a no-flap ear wrap applied to keep it immobilized any time he shakes his head but the outer ear filled up again. The vet says surgery's required to stop it from continuing to do that. Also changing from oral antibiotics to topical.
