Our well has never gone dry (knock on the beach rock) we even share it with neighbours, not drilled, just a solid dug well, but high in iron. Good to drink, but so much iron that it ruins all tap seats, it turns to rust on the rubbers. I replace them yearly, sometimes more often and still a tap drips. It also rusts pumps and tanks faster.
But to compare, our city water is 1/3 the water bill. 2/3 is sewer tax, so you drink $14 in water, and pay $150 water bill. it's much cheaper here
