one of the not-so-cool aspects of computers it that their enormous processing power and storage made it cheap to have inhuman mountains of paperwork, and governments are still discovering this, resulting in creeping licensing into every single aspect of life
i don't think many people care about this from a freedom angle, but there has to be a point where adding ever more bureaucracy will actually affect efficiency, and negatively affect countries that do this
