Capitalism is based on capital receiving legal privledge over other factors in production, namely Labor.
Even the Left unadmittedly wants property, ie proprietorship, in that the Left wants Labor or workers to have ownership over what they produce. "Labor should be paid its full product" is the Left's entire argument.
The issue with capitalism is that a monopoly state grants unnatural monopoly property rights via imposed artificial scarcity. The state encloses the land and restricts housing, so we pay rents and mortgages. The state restricts rights to create and circulate credit, so we pay interest. Capitalism has little to do with individuals claiming they own "stuff," and more to do with the state granting and enforcing privledged property rights.
