I went to a fundraiser for a local nonprofit last night, and it was all so positive and concrete and manageable in scale to see people who really make a visible difference, cleaning up the river and restoring habitats. Few of us can have much impact on national politics. But all of us can find something that we can help to make better. There are small nonprofits that need your money more than national organizations, there are groups that can use your volunteer energies for good.
