#PennedPossibilities 553 — MC or SC POV: Talk about something made by hand.

[Streak tells this little story about a pivotal moment in his life.]

When we were 12 years old, before life became complicated, Thorn Rose and I played together a lot. We were an odd couple, me a white day angel with red tipped wings and her a nerdy black daemon prodigy with cute petite bull horns, always playing together, studying together, me flying her to school.

She was bigger than me, her growth spurt arriving way before mine. She liked to horse around and wrestle. I got scratched on my hip at school; we convinced the school healer to not report it. A week later she pinned me pretending to kiss me, but nicked my ear. It bled all over like spilled tomato juice and we had to work hard cleaning and stuff to make sure my mother didn't see it.

That'd've been the perfect excuse to ban me seeing my friend. Mom distrusted daemons because they looked down on the angelic. Thorn's family happened to also live in our predominately feathered neighborhood, but no never you mind; Mom is just that prejudiced, which is what I still gotta deal with.

Anyways, Thorn's thorny horns...

Hers grew in sharp, something rare I'm told. Could poke out an eye. I'm no maker, and not very good with building things with my hands, but I knew what I wanted to do. I talked to experienced guys in school and they taught me how to impress. I searched until I found Hammer Mill's Little Smithy. After talking to the woman, I brought Thorn there. She got really excited, bouncing cutely about like she was a little girl, and when I suggested hammered rose gold beads fitted to her horn tips she became super happy and told me yes. She actually giggled. That they were Rose gold made Thorn Rose even more ecstatic.

Cost me my saved allowance.

Nobody had ever bought her body deco before, not even her mother. She told all the girls at school that I'd made them custom for her, wearing them always.

Our relationship soon began to change...
