Matrix is too heavy to manage, it needs more computing resources (storage, memory and processing), since it has to keep the full state of every conversation and merge the state between all participating instances (I have experience running both). Due to high storage requirements, backups take longer or you need more costly cloud based storage. You also need more effort to upgrade it. But it could be a good solution for people who can afford it. Sup is too new.",
