if your use case for cryptocurrency includes potentially getting paid while "abroad" or world traveling (or overstaying a visa......), then it is not enough to just get a wallet and say you're ready.

you have to use the tools, make transactions, pay for stuff, and have a familiar workflow you know by heart for moving value around as needed. if you need to hit the ground running, all the time spent figuring out which tools work for you for what purpose, will be critical.
