After a lot of struggle, drama, and an enormous amount of work by many people, Node has a documented decision making process, a technical steering committee, and is managed by a foundation.
Deno, OTOH, is owned through and through by a startup. It may be open source but open source contributors aren’t going to be able to affect major decisions.
