Exactly. Their policy is "we can ban you for any reason whatsoever".

Cool? Good for you. I'm not telling you to do or to stop doing anything. What you use is none of my concern.
But the fact of the matter is that Telegram and other centralised commercial messaging services are hostile towards third-party apps and their users for various reasons, including preventing lost profits (Telegram serves ads now btw).
One cool way to get banned that I know is using your own custom E2EE implementation over regular telegram chats. Some lad around here (can't recall his name, sorry) did that and this got him banned quite reliably.
