Most mercs are pulled directly from the military or vets. At the rate its going the potential merc class will be dead from suicide before the checks ever get cut. Youll probably see more backline jobs taken up by civilian contractors. Tbh a draft isnt all that unlikely. If they need say 300k bodies thats a tiny percent compared too the 340 million population granted that 300k will be from one demographic probably young white guys but whose gonna do anything for them if their number isnt pulled?
