As an Albertan all the posts about thinking France and the UK crushed the right only bring to mind the belief here in 2015 that conservative rule was over. Instead they went farther right, more authoritarian, and won the next election more ruthless and dangerous than ever.
The elections in the UK and France were close with right wing authoritarian parties gaining votes. Starmer and Macron have very short amounts of time to stave off the continuing growth of the new fascism in their countries.
